Your Ultimate Guide To How It Works and What To Expect During Your Session
Although it sounds like something you’d top with whip and order from Caribou, the Flowpresso is one of our client’s favorite services here at, Eating Elevated.
“I was experiencing pain and inflammation in different joints within my body that weren’t necessarily from an injury, but tender/sore from overuse, and they were not healing on their own." Says one of our EE clients. "After only 1 session of Flowpresso (followed by a Foot Bath), I saw significant improvement in those areas almost immediately. Even weeks later, I’m still feeling the benefits from those first couple of sessions. I also experienced an improvement in my quality of sleep following the treatment. Highly recommend the Flowpresso!”
What is Flowpresso?
The Flowpresso combines several therapeutic modalities into one comprehensive treatment, making it a unique and powerful tool for holistic health. At its core, the Flowpresso utilizes a combination of compression, far infrared heat, and deep pressure therapy to deliver a relaxing and restorative experience. Some people like to describe this treatment similar to a massage while getting your blood pressure checked; but instead of just the cuff that’s slowly building pressure around your arm, it’s a specialized suit that offers compression over the majority of your body.

How Does Flowpresso Work?
The Flowpresso suit is equipped with multiple chambers that apply controlled compression and far infrared heat to various parts of the body. Here’s a breakdown of the key components and how they work together:
Compression Therapy:
The suit’s chambers inflate and deflate in a rhythmic pattern, applying gentle pressure to the body. This pressure can be adjusted by one of our EE staff members, so it will be modified for what is most comfortable for you. This compression mimics the effects of a deep tissue massage, promoting blood flow and lymphatic drainage. Improved circulation helps deliver oxygen and nutrients to cells more efficiently, while also aiding in the removal of toxins and waste products from the body.
Far Infrared Heat:
Far infrared (FIR) heat is a type of energy that penetrates the skin deeply, providing a warming sensation that promotes relaxation and improves circulation. FIR heat is known for its ability to penetrate tissues and stimulate the body’s natural healing processes. It helps to relax muscles, reduce pain and increase blood flow, making it a valuable component to the Flowpresso therapy.
Deep Pressure Therapy:
This aspect of Flowpresso therapy involves applying firm, consistent pressure to the body, similar to the sensation of your favorite weighted blanket. Deep pressure therapy is known to have calming effects on the nervous system, reducing stress and anxiety while promoting a sense of well-being. It can also help improve sleep quality and support emotional balance.
Benefits of Flowpresso
The combination of these therapeutic elements offers a wide range of benefits for both physical and mental health. Here are some of the most notable advantages of Flowpresso therapy:
1) Enhanced Relaxation and Stress Relief:
The soothing effects of compression, FIR heat, and deep pressure work together to create a deeply relaxing experience. We often find some of our clients sleeping when we pop back in to check on them! This form of relaxation can help reduce stress levels, lower cortisol production, and promote a sense of calm. Regular sessions can contribute to improved mental health and resilience against daily stressors.
We have a client at EE who served in the military. After one session he said, “That is the most relaxed I have felt since before being deployed. This was such an amazing experience.”
2) Improved Circulation and Lymphatic Drainage:
By promoting better blood flow and stimulating the lymphatic system, Flowpresso helps ensure that oxygen and nutrients are efficiently delivered to cells, while waste products and toxins are removed. It’s like if your Amazon driver delivers your packages, he would take your garbage cans away with him! This process in the body can lead to increased energy levels, reduced swelling, and a strengthened immune system.
3) Pain Relief and Muscle Recovery:
The combination of FIR heat and compression can help relax tight muscles, reduce inflammation, and alleviate pain. This makes Flowpresso an excellent therapy for athletes or anyone dealing with chronic pain or muscle tension. It can also accelerate recovery after intense physical activity by improving circulation and reducing muscle soreness.
4) Detoxification:
Flowpresso supports the body’s natural detoxification processes by enhancing lymphatic drainage and increasing circulation. This helps to flush out toxins and waste products that can accumulate in the body, promoting overall health and vitality.
5) Enhanced Sleep Quality:
The relaxing effects of deep pressure therapy can help improve sleep patterns by promoting a sense of calm and reducing anxiety. Many clients report better sleep quality and feeling more rested following their session.
6) Boosted Immune Function:
Improved circulation and lymphatic drainage contribute to a stronger immune system. By ensuring that immune cells are efficiently transported throughout the body, Flowpresso can help enhance the body’s ability to fight off infections and illnesses.
7) Skin Health:
The increased blood flow and detoxification processes promoted by Flowpresso can also have positive effects on the skin. Improved circulation delivers more oxygen and nutrients to the skin, resulting in a healthier, more radiant complexion.

Flowpresso therapy is suitable for a wide range of individuals seeking to improve their overall health. Here are some groups of people who may particularly benefit from this innovative therapy:
Athletes: Flowpresso can aid in muscle recovery, reduce soreness, and enhance performance by improving circulation and reducing inflammation.
Individuals with Chronic Pain: Those suffering from conditions such as fibromyalgia, arthritis, or chronic muscle tension may find relief through the combined effects of compression and FIR heat.

Health Enthusiasts: Individuals looking to support their overall health, enhance detoxification, and boost their immune system will find Flowpresso to be a valuable addition to their wellness routine.
What to Expect During a Flowpresso Session
A typical Flowpresso session lasts 30 minutes. Here’s what you can expect during your session:
Preparation:
An EE staff member, let’s say, Rhonda, will assist you as you walk back to the therapeutics’ space. Once you’ve reached the room, you will see what looks like a giant, flat compression suit that you will lay on, facing upwards. To answer your next question, you will remain fully clothed! Once situated on the table, Rhonda will kindly begin wrapping the feet, legs, abdomen, arms, and torso with velcro fasteners to ensure comfort for all body types.
The Session:
Once you’re comfortably suited up, Rhonda will set the pressure and heat settings. The suit has air pressure and far-infrared cables which are connected to a small, computerized unit. The chambers in the suit will begin to inflate and deflate in a slow, rhythmic pattern, applying compression to different parts of the body. Simultaneously, far infrared heat will be emitted, creating a warming sensation that penetrates deeply into your tissues. Rhonda will spend the first few minutes with you to ensure the settings are comfortable. When you give her the thumbs up, Rhonda will ask if you’d like a towel to lay over your eyes, and then she’ll dim the lights and let you ‘flow’ in peace.
Relaxation:
As your body begins to familiarize itself with the rhythm of the Flowpresso, you’ll start to experience a deep sense of relaxation. With each chamber slowly breathing in and out, while the heat is absorbing into the body, it will feel like Olaf is giving you continuous warm hugs. When the pressure is building up in each chamber, think about the positive effects this is having on your body. Think about improving blood flow, and improving lymphatic function. Breathe in deeply, and in your mind, repeat your intention for why you are here.
“I am here to rest and recharge my body.”
“I am here to relieve stress and muscle tension.”
“I am here to detox and flush all of those toxins out!”
Post-Session:
After the session, you’ll definitely feel like a wet noodle. You will not want to get up, and you'll have thoughts about telling your husband you’ll be home later so you can transition into a Foot Bath or a session in the Salt Cave. Some people may experience increased energy, while others may feel like they’re ready for bed. It’s important - SO important - to drink plenty of water with electrolytes after your session to support the detoxification process. To really enhance your drainage process, at home, feel free to castor oil pack your liver if you cannot join us for a Foot Bath following your session. We could go into more detail on the importance of this, but we don’t want to be here all night.
